Gardens
The gardens around the museum display plants that are native and
drought-tolerant. Plants are also selected for their wildlife values.
In 1998, the Huck Finn Summer Academy transformed a former lawn
(which had seen better days) into the Butterfly and Hummingbird
Garden.
In
2001, the Chula Vista Garden Club adopted the Nature Center. This
organization received a grant from Shell Oil Company to buy plants
and maintain certain areas of the Nature Center grounds. For their
first project, they selected the Pelican Circle in front of the
building.
