Hypsypops rubicundus Garibaldi



Appearance: Bright orange body ranging in size between 12-15 inches. May have a blue spot on the side of its body which identifies an immaturity.

Range: Monterey, California to Magdalena Bay, Baja California, Mexico.

Diet: Sponges, anemones, bryozoans, algae, crustaceans, clams, mussels, snail eggs, and eggs of its own species.

Interesting Facts:

  • They are found in numbers along the rocky coastlines where they make their homes; very territorial
