Officially:
The Chula Vista Nature Center is dedicated to serving the public by providing a quality living nature center experience while promoting coastal resource conservation and environmental stewardship through education.
What that means to us:
"The Nature Center, is a vibrant, dynamic environmental organization concerning San Diego’s marine environment that can touch hearts and minds inspiring kids of all ages to live in a sustainable manner."
The Nature Center is about families getting excited about nature. It’s hearing from parents about their memories visiting the Nature Center when they were kids. It’s about bringing my twins here when they were toddlers and still seeing the wonder when they visit now at age 11. No matter what your background or experience, there is something here for everyone to get excited and learn about. It’s real.
“Everyday I am amazed by the questions and insight the students have at the Chula Vista Nature Center. One of my favorite moments here is seeing a second grader holding a leaf close to her cheek with her eyes closed. I had just been teaching the students that humans get oxygen from plants, and plants get carbon dioxide from humans. I asked the little girl with the leaf what she was doing and her response was, "I just blew my air onto it and now I can feel it giving me oxygen!"
