PreK & Kindergarten, Ages 4-6:
Radical Rays
Dec. 28-30, 9:00-12:00
This is a camp all about one of the Nature Center’s most-loved animals- stingrays! Through crafts, games and lots of up-close time with these graceful critters, we’ll discover all of the radical ways of rays!

Animals have all the right moves! Can you walk like a crab, soar like an eagle or glide like a shark? We’ll jump, crawl, slither and run like animals during this active camp!

Turtles in my Sandbox
Jan. 2-3, 9:00am-12:00pm
Eggs buried in the sand, shells as big as a preschooler…what can it be? It’s turtles! We’ll discover these awesome reptiles and learn how cool being cold-blooded really is. We’ll even get to meet baby sea turtles!

Big Blue

Dive in as we discover fascinating fish that call the ocean home. We’ll make a splash with sea turtles, stingrays, anemones and more as we plunge into the big blue!

Fish School

Clownfish and lionfish! Flatfish and eels! Fish come in every color, shape and size you can imagine. We’ll dive into the colorful and scaly world of fish through games, crafts and up-close looks at some finny friends! $62 for 3 days ($58 for members)

Hooterific

Get ready to take flight as we burrow into the incredible world of owls! We’ll explore silent wings, talons, beaks and even dissect owl pellets! Don’t miss out- it’s going to be a hoot!

1st-3rd Graders:
Junior Apprentice
Dec. 28-30, 9:00am-4:00pm
The perfect camp for budding biologists! On Monday we’ll track wildlife and explore life under the microscope. Tuesday we’ll feed sharks and meet baby sea turtles up-close. Wednesday is for the birds as we see what it takes to care for eagles, owls and endangered clapper rails. Being a biologist has never been more fun!

Commotion in the Ocean*

Make a real splash in a camp that’s all about ocean life! Prepare to dive into a world of sea turtles, sharks, seahorses and more as we discover the amazing marine critters that call San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean home! *Can be combined with Fins, Fur & Feathers Art Camp to make a full day of camp!

Fins, Fur & Feathers Art Camp*

Working with a professional artist, campers will use the Nature Center and wildlife refuge as inspiration! After creating sketches during outdoor excursions, campers will create works of art using a variety of media and techniques: colored pencils and shading, markers and charcoal, print-making, painting and sculpture. *Can be combined with Commotion in the Ocean to make a full day of camp!

4th-6th Graders:
Dynamic Defenses*
Jan. 2-6, 9:00am-12:30pm
Mission: Survival! Animals and plants have an arsenal of special defenses to keep themselves safe in a wild world. It’ll be an action-packed week of survival strategy as we plunge into the crazy world of camouflage, mimicry, and the active defenses living things use to stay alive. *Can be combined with The Apprentice to make a full day of camp!

The Apprentice *

What is it like to work with animals? What is being a field biologist all about? How do you feed an octopus, hold a snake, or clean a giant aquarium? This camp is a hands-on opportunity to see what jobs like these are really like. *Can be combined with Dynamic Defenses to make a full day of camp!
Limit 10 campers per session. Dress for getting wet and dirty!

Teens (Age 13-18)
Biologist Days
December 29-30 9:00am-4:00pm
An unforgettable experience for teens who are interested in a career working with animals! Experience two days in the life of a keeper/aquarist first hand while working behind the scenes with staff biologists. Prepare animal diets, clean enclosures and more while discovering the inner workings of a wildlife facility! (Limit 4 campers)
